Biography: Yvonne Jones born in Holywell, North Wales, is trained as a Painter. Her painting and video projection installations explore the meaning of being human alongside notions of the posthuman. She gained a teaching degree at Liverpool's Notre Dame College,studying Biology and Maths, along side Education, History of Education, Sociology, and Educational Psychology, followed by a BA Hons at Liverpool College of Art, MA (with Distinction) at Winchester School of Art , and a PhD through art practice in 2010, at Winchester School of Art, part of the University of Southampton. She further studied Psychology at Hons Degree level for Year 1 at the University of Southampton with Tony Gale, gaining an 'A' before diverting back to her Art Practice. She has exhibited widely including Newhall College Cambridge, the Royal Academy London, Mall Galleries London, the Met Gallery University of Leeds, Aspex Gallery Portsmouth, New Contemporaries, Oriel Mostyn Llandudno, MULTICHANNEL ArtSway, Kunstzentrum Glide Reinbeck Germany and the Rag Factory Brick Lane London. Her work is held in the Unique Collection of Contemporary Women's Art at NewHall College Cambridge, Bangor University Collection, and Private Collections in UK,Germany, US, and China A founder member and Board Member of ArtSway, she is an affiliated member of the British Psychological Society and a Fellow of RSA. She is a founding and current member of PIRG (Phenomenology and Imagination Research Group) a culturally diverse group of artists with very different areas of research. The group held its inaugural show in November 2015 at the Link Gallery Winchester University, with subsequent shows including In Dialogue: Material Imagination and Sites of Conversation. She has worked with ETC (Everyday Tourism Collective), working with the public to see locations from a different perspective. A group of her works are to be installed in the University of Southampton's new state-of-the-art Centre for Cancer Immunology. Yvonne was a visiting artist working in the centre with Prof Tim Elliot, Prof Tim Underwood and Prof Peter Johnson. Painting in a traditional manner, developing her own free style of working, initially figurative, the work evolved, always referencing a weaving between external and internal worlds. Her current works continue to explore being human today, using events and experiences in her life, they are body-centered, multi-area, painting-based pieces. She lives and works in the New Forest, Hampshire UK maintaining strong links with Winchester School of Art, a Department of Southampton University.
