Yvonne Jones: (Artist Researcher)

Finding Spaces;
Looking for, and using space is an ongoing goal and ingredient throughout my work, including the early figurative works, the more expressionist works, the video works, the installation works and the built canvases.

PROCESS:
I enjoy Looking for Space on a flat canvas, or a flat video, In the installations it matters to aim to create a setup that implies space for the viewer. Building canvases is a newer approach for me, again looking to offer a depth the space. The spaces are both inner and outer space. The space we exist with, how we experience the space of us within, and the space out there.

CONTEXT:
My central concern is
one of Being. That is to say, how we are, our state of existing, of being. The 'human' condition. Relationships between inner and outer, between inner and inner. With all the fast moving technological advances and Philosophies, are we still Human? Or are we moving into the era of existing as Posthuman. What is our relationship between human and the posthuman? Using my body as site, the work ongoing explores the experiences of Being in today's world.In one perspective my work is 'Self Portraiture"
